Rata Grove Motel is one of Franz Josef Glacier Townships long estabilished businesses, experienced in catering to the needs of the New Zealand traveler and overseas visitor.

Our 10 unit Motel is centrally located close to all the amenities and is the only Motel in Franz Josef with a private walkway into the Town Centre. The Motels location allows guests excellent views of the Glacier and the surroundding snow capped Moutains

South Westland National Park, offers magnificent panoramic views of New Zealand's native bush and southern alpine ranges. During the months November through to February the native rainforest bush displays the beautiful flower of the Southern Pohutukawa or Rata trees'. the Pohutukawa tree is fondly known to New Zealanders as their Christmas tree as it comes into full bloom in December.

Aim to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and can pre-book your activities for you. The Glacier Region offers many activities to its visitors from Guided Glacier Walks, to nocturnal Kiwi Sanctuary tours. Most of the activities are weather dependent, which means you pay at the time of your activity, not at the time of booking.
